UBC PATHS (Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Targeted Hope and Support) is a nonprofit organization at the University of British Columbia dedicated to supporting the Parkinson’s and Alzheimer's community through philanthropy, outreach, and education.
Our organization focuses on three key pillars:
• Engagement: Raising awareness about neurodegenerative diseases.
• Enrichment: Supporting individuals affected by Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
• Exploration: Empowering education and research initiatives.
We organize engaging workshops, events, and campaigns that inspire UBC students to advocate for neurological health, aiming to reduce stigma and foster empathy towards those living with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases.
Our Enrichment initiatives provide personal support and enhance the quality of life for individuals affected by neurodegenerative diseases. This is done through fundraising activities, and our community outreach program which provides UBC students with volunteering opportunities at Point Grey Private Hospital and ASK Friendship society.
UBC PATHS has several committees, each focusing on specific areas:
• Marketing: Handles promotional activities and social media presence.
• Community Outreach Program (COP): organizes volunteering opportunities for paths members.
• Internal: manages team socials and blog posts.
• Mentorship: Oversees the PATHS mentorship program that connects graduate and senior students with first- and second-year students.
• Finance: Oversees club finances and membership management.
• Admin: Responsible for room bookings, meeting minutes, and administrative tasks.
• Education: Organizes speaker series, educational workshops, case competition, and lab tour.
• Sponsorship: Brings together sponsors that help support our events throughout the year.
• Initiatives: Organizes Pit Night, Trivia Night, and other club fundraisers. Along with the PATHS to a Cure Neuroscience Research Conference!
UBC PATHS is committed to advancing education through a range of initiatives, including our Speaker Series, Workshops, the annual PATHS to a Cure Neuroscience Research Conference, and a Case Competition. These events provide students with opportunities to engage with leading experts, fostering insightful discussions and raising awareness about neurodegenerative diseases.
